Lord Platinum Razor Blades

Lord Platinum Razor Blades

The only reason why you’re probably considering the Lord Platinum razor blades is because they’re so ridiculously cheap.  200 blades runs about $23 on Amazon.  Expect to get about 1-2 shaves per blade depending on the thickness of your facial hair and how if you store the blades properly.

I shaved with a Lord Platinum this morning and the experience was mediocre.  There was a little bit of dragging which suggests a relatively dull blade.  On one hand, a duller blade is good if you’re in a rush since it’s more forgiving of mistakes.  On the other hand, it gives you a less smooth shave and can cause irritation.  If you like the Merkur DE razor blades, the Lord Platinums are a similar experience but for a much cheaper price.

Packaging
The Lord Platinum razor blades are made in Egypt and each blade is individually wrapped  in wax paper which is sealed inside a paper envelope.

Price Per Blade
$0.12

Overall
The Lord Double Edge Platinum razor blades are pretty cheap, but the Derbys provide a better shave for the same price.  A good, low-cost alternative if you like the Merkur blades.

I could not disagree more. I recently bought a pack of just about very blade after a few years of nothing but Feathers. My two favorite blades are the Lord Platinum and the Wilkinson German blades. I enjoyed several others, including a few if th Gillettes, but kept coming back to the Lords. They are extremely sharp, and far smoother with less drag than anything else I have tried. I could care less about the price, these won for me. I took notes after each new blade and I had no issues at all with these delightful blades.

My beard is as coarse as can be and I get 4 fine shaves. I’ve also been using Prarie Creations soaps, and they have also blown me away. I use a Merkur Vision, Fatboy and a new Muhle whose number I suddenly forgot.

    Try the Lords!

My experience has been very much the opposite – of all the blades I’ve used, I find Lord to be by far my favorite. Very smooth, get a great shave, and last me about 4-5 shaves.

I alternate between Feather and Lord almost exclusively – I do get a closer shave with Feather, but also get a great shave with the Lord Platinums with the added bonus of being far more smooth.
