Derby Extra Double Edge Razor Blades
The Derby Extra Double Edge razor blades are made in Turkey and are a great balance of sharpness and smoothness. The official marketing materials claim that they have a chromium, ceramic, tungsten, platinum and polymer coated edges for optimum edge strength and shaving comfort. Fancy technical terms aside, it breaks down to the blades being able to cut through the thickest whiskers and that they are not particularly prone to giving cuts and nicks. A year’s supply (100 blades) is only $14.99, so they’re definitely an amazing value. The 100-blade package is split up to 5-blade units which are each individually wrapped in wax paper. Expect to get about 2-5 shaves per blade.

i would have to respectfully disagree with you regarding to the Derby blades in the horizontal vs vertical pack. i bought to 100 blade bulk pack in the horizontal packaging and have run across some crappy blades mixed in. crappy in my case means dull. dull right out of the box, i’ll toss it and get get a good blade. i thought it was just me. go figure

One of the problems is that the Derbys are now so inconsistent. Sometimes the horizontal pack blades can suck, other times they’re not bad. You just never know…
